Salon Roi is known to many Washingtonians as the site of the mural of legendary film star Marilyn Monroe, which graces the upper levels of the Salon's southern exterior wall and was created by artist John Bailey in 1980 for Mr. Roi Barnard's 40th birthday. The mural has become something of Washington landmark, reproduced in paintings, T-shirts, calendars and postcards.
