Architect Larry Hess envisioned the Stowehof Inn & Resort after discovering the site in 1945 while on leave from the U.S. Navy. The original 13-room inn was completed in 1950 and features hand-hewn beams that were once part of local farmhouses. Susan and Christopher Grimes and their son, Chris Jr. (CJ), bought the inn in August 2000 and began the process of restoring it to its original grandeur. It now has 46 rooms filled with antiques and warm, friendly hospitality.
