This nonprofit art exhibition center has about 24,000 square feet of gallery space dedicated to showing the finest visual art from local, state and regional artists as well as major U.S. and international exhibitions. Current exhibitions include German Expressionism and work by Brian Alfred and Carrie Mae Weems, a photographer and artist whose work deals with social issues relating to race, gender and equality. Come see the art, and take in the gift shop and popular cafe while you're there.
The Frist Center opened in April 2001 on Broadway in downtown Nashville, next to the historic Union Station Hotel. The center's vision is to 'inspire people to look at their world in new ways through art.' The Frist Center also features in the interactive ArtQuest gallery, where visitors of all ages can create their own works of art.
