HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights use a bulb with an electrically charged gas called Xenon. This produces an ultraviolet light which is brighter than the light emitted by a standard halogen bulb. The Xenon bulb also lasts longer than a halogen which translates to fewer bulbs bought over the lifetime of your car!
