The Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit was founded in 1992 by Rick Sperling. Sperling saw this as a way to fill gaps in the arts education sector in metro Detroit Schools. In its first year, the program served 25 youths without a budget and today the Mosaic Youth Theatre performs internationally.
